Holy Ghost Parish, Bethlehem issued the following announcement on September 13.
My dear parishioners,
We often hear the phrase; “ It’s pay back time!” associated with revenge and someone getting what they deserve. Jesus gives us a parable describing His view on the matter. In putting it in monetary terms, debtor to lender; Jesus tries to break us of the desire for vengeance.
We need to admit that we all owe our lives, our family, our world to God. We did nothing to deserve special treatment. In fact, we are all victims of Original Sin, which needed the saving sacrifice of Jesus to heal. It is time to close the account books. We need to cease looking for what is owed us.
Last week, the apostle Paul reminded us that we should owe no one anything except love. That is what we should focus our attention on. We have been showered with love by our Heavenly Father.
In sending his Son Jesus to bring us salvation; He brings us the greatest undeserved asset. God just wants us to pass on the same generosity and tolerance to others. Let’s make a genuine effort to live in Christian charity; expecting nothing, but giving everything, just as Jesus did.
Wishing you all the best of God’s blessings during these end of summer days I remain,
Your pastor and friend,
Father David Kozak
