Blessed Trinity Parish issued the following announcement on September 13.

Religious liberty is one of the rights that our founding fathers considered very important. With the upcoming election, it is important to do your research and see what each candidate has done to ensure religious liberty or if they have been involved in any cases which worked against religious liberty. The information is out there. With that in mind, this week's review shows what can happen when a government is against a religion, especially our religion. "For Greater Glory" is a 2012 film about the Cristero War in Mexico. Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria star in this historical war drama. The film starts with the aftermath of the anti-Catholic provisions of the 1917 Constitution of Mexico. Mexico's newly elected president stated that "religion is a plot to poison the minds of our people. This evil will not be tolerated". To enforce his point, Catholic Churches were set on fire, priests were murdered and their bodies were hung on telegraph poles as a warning to others. In the movie, a priest befriends a boy named Jose Sanchez del Rio and trains him to be an Altar boy. The priest is murdered by the Mexican army, and Jose witnessed the murder. Jose runs away and joins the Cristeros (Soldiers for Christ) and becomes the protege of its reluctant leader, General Enrique Gorostieta, played by Andy Garcia. General Enrique unites the rag tag Cristeros army and wins a few key battles against the Mexican army. Jose is captured and tortured for his Catholic Faith. Jose is given one final chance, in front of his parents, to renounce Christ or die. Jose bravely says "Viva Cristo Rey" (Long Live Christ the King) and is killed for his faith. In 2005, Pope Benedict XVI beatified Jose, along with 12 other martyrs of this religious persecution.  I proudly give "For Greater Glory" 5 Beards out of 5 Beards. Please do your homework. The information is out there. ~Deacon Tim Live Jesus in our hearts...Forever!
