St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church recently issued the following announcement.

IMPORTANT: Please beware that someone is sending fraudulent texts under the name of ‘Fr. Lawrence Sherdel’. The text is coming from a number with a 505 area code.

The message reads: “[Name] I need a favor from you,please text me back as soon as possible

Fr. Lawrence Sherdel”

Fr. Sherdel would never text or email parishioners asking for a favor. Nor would he ask you to buy gift cards for someonein need (as has been the recent attempts to scam people of money).
