The Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown issued the following announcement on September 13..
As we continue to work and live through the pandemic, we are faced with many things that can test our patience. Even going to a store can be trying. But as faithful followers of Christ, we must put today’s Gospel into practice when Jesus responds to Peter’s question, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” Forgiveness can be extremely difficult when our own emotions are running high. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit working in our lives, we must always strive to let the heart of Christ shine forth through our lives, not focusing on ourselves, but on all of our brothers and sisters. Things won’t always go as we plan, but with the Holy Spirit guiding us, we can accomplish our main goal, doing God’s Will in our lives. This year, due to the pandemic caused by the Corona virus, it was a challenge to take up the Good Friday Collection dedicated to supporting Christians living in the Holy Land. This is why Pope Francis has accepted the request to move this gesture of sharing that concerns the whole Church to September 13, 2020. Why September 13th? Because it is the Sunday closest to the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. On this feast, we remember how far the love of the Son of God has come for us: giving His life on the Cross for our salvation and reconciling us to the Father and to each other. Monies from this collection are used to support the services and facilities of the Church in the Holy Land, as well as the education and social service support of our Christian brothers and sisters in the Holy Land who are desperately in need of extra help. Baskets for this special appeal are being provided at our parishes. If you have already given your Holy Land envelope, you do not need to give again. Thank you for your support of this important appeal. —- God Bless, Fr. Tony
