Church of Saint Benedict issued the following announcement on Sept. 9.
Socrates is quoted as saying "The unexamined life is not worth living" (Apology, 38a5–6). The Gospel today reminds us of that. We as Christians are called to examine our lives to see if they are in order with the life to which Christ is calling us.
Our Lord in today’s Gospel is giving us a path to reconcile our misunderstandings between each other. We must ask ourselves if we use that path, or are we quick to condemn or judge? Or do we look upon others with love and respect.
In a society that is quick to “call out” or “cancel” a person for every infraction, we do well to look at the gentle path of fraternal correction that Jesus is proposing to us this Sunday.
In all things, even in settling conflict, Christ is our Model. We can only examine our actions in light of His example.
As always, know of my prayers.
