The Most Reverend Ronald W. Gainer, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Harrisburg, will be the principal celebrant for the Annual Diocesan Red Mass on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 5:30 x-apple-data-detectors://8p.m. at the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, Harrisburg. Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of Arlington, Va., will be the guest homilist.
At the Red Mass, law students, lawyers, judges, lawmakers, and public officials gather together to pray for God’s wisdom and guidance in their pursuit of justice. The Red Mass originated in medieval England during the time of King Edward I, when the 12 judges of the High Court attended Mass as a group on the opening day of the judicial calendar.
