The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is ready to usher in Reconciliation Weekend, urging the faithful to take advantage of the chance to get back into abiding by the sacraments of the Church.

Parishes across the archdiocese will be participating.

“Reconciliation Weekend. March 10 and 11, 2023. Come be restored to peace!” Archbishop Nelsen Perez tweeted as a way to encourage people to come back to the fold.

The main goal of Reconciliation Weekend is to bring back those who have strayed from the sacrament, no matter how long it has been.

Priests will be available, ready to guide, at the various locations in the greater Philadelphia area to hear confessions and help people make peace with God, themselves and others through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, according to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. A schedule of participating parishes and times is available on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Eucharistic Revival website.

“Sisters and brothers in Christ, at his resurrection, Jesus instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation when He said, 'Receive the Holy Spirit, if you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven.' What an extraordinary gift of love and mercy,” Perez said in a video he included in his tweet.

“The Risen Lord proclaimed that the brutal suffering He endured was to provide forgiveness and salvation for everyone and for all time,” he said. “If you haven’t been to confession in a while, the Church of Philadelphia welcomes you back. This gift is yours, and it is endless. Come unburden your soul and make peace with God.”
